TSMC ADR Hits Record High as Chipmaker Delays Advanced ASML Equipment to Control Costs
TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, is benefiting from demand for advanced processes driven by AI accelerators, while investors also focus on its technological lead and capital efficiency. ASML is the world's sole supplier of EUV lithography systems. Its latest High-NA EUV machine costs more than €350 million, or about NT$13.1 billion, roughly twice as much as the equipment currently in use.
On April 22, 2026, TSMC Deputy Co-Chief Operating Officer Kevin Zhang told the company's North America Technology Symposium that it had no plans to introduce High-NA EUV into mass production before 2029. The A13 process scheduled to enter production that year will continue to extend the capabilities of existing Low-NA EUV technology. TSMC's ADR rose 5.26% that day to close at a record $387.44 per share.
