Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP Token Crashes 99% as Team Blames Bots

2 reports · First detected 2026-09-10 · Last active 2026-09-10

LAPTOP is a memecoin associated with Hunter Biden and launched on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, with branding drawn from the controversy surrounding his laptop. The project sought attention through planned distributions to some holders who lost money on the TRUMP token and a prediction-based mechanism designed to burn part of its one billion-token supply, placing it within the volatile market for politically branded cryptocurrencies.

The token debuted on Sept. 9, 2026, and briefly traded near $200 before falling below $2 within about an hour, a decline of roughly 98% to 99%. Some traders accumulated six-figure paper losses during the reversal. The LAPTOP team blamed sniper bots and thin market liquidity for the collapse and said it planned to increase incentives for liquidity pools while using its prediction-event burn mechanism to reduce supply over time.
