Coinbase Turns Former Executives’ Decision-Making Styles Into AI Agents for Employees

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-20 · Last active 2026-04-20

Coinbase is turning the experience and decision-making logic of senior executives into internal AI tools, with its first models based on a co-founder and a former chief technology officer. Employees can seek strategic feedback through Slack at any time, reducing the risk that institutional knowledge will be lost when executives leave. The move also shows how corporate adoption of generative AI is expanding beyond routine administrative work into decision support.

Coinbase recently announced that it is testing AI agents modeled on two former executives, allowing the agents to answer employees’ questions directly in Slack and offer strategic advice. It has not disclosed when the trial began, how much it has invested or how many employees it covers. The project is the latest step in CEO Brian Armstrong’s internal AI transformation, with response accuracy, access controls and accountability set to be key issues going forward.
