Taiwan Cooperative Bank Tightens Mobile Payment Fraud Controls
Fraudsters increasingly seek payment-code screenshots, cardless withdrawal credentials and authentication data to move money from victims’ accounts, pushing Taiwan’s banks to strengthen controls around digital transactions. Taiwan Cooperative Bank is responding to an anti-fraud initiative led by Financial Information Service Co. with technology safeguards, customer warnings and tighter risk controls covering its mobile payment and cardless cash withdrawal services.
Taiwan Cooperative Bank said on July 20, 2026, that its HOKU E Pay service now blocks screenshots of payment QR codes and cuts their validity to 60 seconds from 180 seconds. The bank also added scrolling fraud alerts and warnings across its mobile banking app and ATM interfaces. A new MID SIM-card authentication mechanism checks whether a device’s mobile number matches bank records, adding protection for device binding and non-designated transfers. No investment or fraud-loss amount was disclosed.
