Amazon Targets 2.5-Fold Package Throughput With AI Logistics Hub

Amazon is developing a new generation of automated delivery stations as it seeks to push artificial intelligence and robotics deeper into its logistics network. The initiative, internally called Project Tetromino, is designed to reduce manual work in package sorting and delivery preparation. Its performance could shape Amazon’s fulfillment costs, capacity during peak shopping periods and ability to speed deliveries across its network.

Project Tetromino is expected to combine AI software with robotic systems to sort packages and prepare them for delivery at as much as 2.5 times the throughput of Amazon’s current facilities. The company plans to launch the first pilot site in 2028, giving it a test bed to measure reliability and operational gains before deciding on a broader rollout.
