Apple Brings Apple Intelligence to Safari With AI Agents and Custom Extension Creation

Apple is expanding Apple Intelligence beyond text and image assistance into Safari browsing, account security and web automation. Users will be able to have AI organize tabs, monitor websites and create extensions without writing code. The shift turns the browser from an information gateway into an agent platform capable of carrying out tasks, while raising questions about the security and trust involved in password management.

Apple unveiled the features at WWDC26 on June 8, 2026. Passwords can replace weak or compromised passwords on websites with one click, while Notify Me can track page changes such as restocks and price cuts. Safari can organize tabs by topic and generate custom extensions from natural-language descriptions. Developer testing is underway, with a public beta scheduled for July. The features will formally launch for free this fall with iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.
