Bitso, Ripple Launch Peso-Backed MXNB Stablecoin on XRP Ledger
Bitso and Ripple have collaborated on cross-border payments in Latin America for years. The U.S.-Mexico corridor is the world's largest single remittance corridor, with personal remittances reaching $65 billion in 2024, while bilateral trade in goods and services totaled $935.1 billion. Bringing peso- and dollar-backed stablecoins onto the same ledger is intended to provide businesses with faster onchain liquidity and settlement backed by compliance controls.
On June 11, 2026, Bitso announced the issuance of Mexican peso-pegged MXNB on the XRP Ledger, with integration into Ripple Payments on DEX and Permissioned DEX. MXNB will be paired with Ripple's U.S. dollar stablecoin RLUSD to support institutional payments denominated in dollars and pesos. In 2025, dollar-backed stablecoins accounted for 40% of crypto asset purchases on Bitso's platform.
