OpenAI Launches GPT-Rosalind for Genomics and Drug Discovery

OpenAI is expanding generative AI into the life sciences with GPT-Rosalind, a specialized reasoning model focused on genomics, protein engineering and chemical data analysis. The model targets drug-development workflows at pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. It could help researchers organize complex data, generate hypotheses and accelerate the search for drug candidates.

As of July 19, 2026, GPT-Rosalind was available as a research preview, with applications limited to enterprise customers in the United States and subject to approval under OpenAI's Trusted Access program. OpenAI has not announced a formal commercial launch date, subscription pricing or related investment figures. Access remains restricted by eligibility and location.
