Bitcoin Advocates Launch ‘The Bitcoin Evidence Base’ AI Tool to Counter Negative Claims

Controversy over Bitcoin mining’s energy consumption and carbon emissions has persisted for more than a decade, with some United Nations agencies and national governments arguing that it exacerbates global warming. Advocates contend that the industry’s energy mix has shifted toward lower-carbon sources. Nordic Bitcoin education platform Bitcoin Beyond 66 created an evidence database to counter common FUD with research, although its selection of materials still reflects an advocacy stance.

On May 1, 2026, the platform launched an open-source AI tool called “The Bitcoin Evidence Base,” drawing on more than 22 peer-reviewed papers, Cambridge reports and ERCOT data. Users can submit text or links and choose from three tones to generate responses with cited sources. Citing an April 2025 Cambridge study, the system says renewable energy powers more than 52% of Bitcoin mining.
