Rakuten Launches Monkeys World Card to Link Taiwan-Japan Ecosystem
Rakuten Group’s Taiwan operations are expanding their ecosystem strategy with the Rakuten Monkeys World Card, using financial payments to connect e-commerce, travel and professional baseball fandom. The product is designed to extend cardholder rewards across everyday and cross-border spending while drawing on Rakuten’s businesses and brand presence in Taiwan and Japan. The initiative underscores the group’s effort to deepen customer engagement and build a more integrated Taiwan-Japan lifestyle network.
Rakuten Group announced the new card alongside an ecosystem-wide consumer rewards campaign covering payments, online shopping, travel and fan-related activities. It also plans to hold a “Rakuten Group Day” at the Taipei Dome, using the large-scale baseball event to showcase services across the group and promote Taiwan-Japan ties. The announcement did not specify the event date, card issuance target or reward rates, leaving key commercial terms and the rollout timetable undisclosed.
