MoonPay Launches Platform to Expand Into Tokenized Assets and DeFi
MoonPay, previously focused on payment services connecting fiat currencies and crypto assets, is expanding into onchain trading infrastructure for banks and fintech companies. As BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and JPMorgan roll out tokenized funds on public blockchains, the market value of tokenized real-world assets has surpassed $33 billion, tripling from a year earlier. Integrating liquidity across blockchains has therefore become crucial to institutional adoption.
MoonPay launched MoonPay Trade on May 21, 2026. A single API connects more than 200 blockchains and protocols, supports settlement in over 120 fiat currencies, and enables subscriptions and redemptions for tokenized funds as well as collateral transfers. It also integrates with Morpho, Aave and Maple Finance. The platform uses technology from Decent.xyz, which MoonPay acquired for nearly $100 million, and serves as the execution layer for MoonPay Institutional.
