Nvidia Targets Physical AI and AI-Native 6G Telecom Infrastructure
“Physical AI” enables robots, self-driving vehicles and autonomous systems to perceive, reason and act in real-world environments, while 6G must connect billions of devices in real time. To address the complexity of networks and edge inference, Nvidia is using AI-RAN to embed AI across radio access networks, the edge and the core. On October 28, 2025, it invested $1 billion in Nokia to advance the transition from 5G-Advanced to 6G.
On February 28, 2026, ahead of MWC Barcelona, Nvidia announced that it and 12 partners — including BT Group, Deutsche Telekom, SK Telecom, SoftBank, T-Mobile, Cisco, Ericsson and Nokia — had committed to building an open, secure, AI-native 6G platform. An Nvidia survey found that 89% of telecom operators plan to increase their AI budgets this year, while 77% expect to deploy AI-native networks before 6G becomes commercially available.
