Meta Launches USDC Payouts for Creators in the Philippines and Colombia

Meta previously pursued its own digital currency, Libra, later renamed Diem, before abandoning the project in 2022 under regulatory pressure. It is now using USDC, the dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle. Meta paid creators nearly $3 billion through Facebook monetization programs in 2025, so its use of blockchain for cross-border compensation could affect substantial payment flows and change how creators gain access to dollar-denominated assets.

Meta began offering USDC payouts to selected Facebook creators in the Philippines and Colombia on April 29, 2026. Funds can be sent to compatible wallets through Solana or Polygon, with Stripe supporting backend operations and crypto tax documentation. The program is scheduled to expand to more than 160 markets by the end of 2026. Creators who want to convert the funds into local currency must still do so themselves through a wallet or exchange.
