Dango to Shut Blockchain and Perpetual DEX Four Months After Launch
Dango is a Layer-1 blockchain built around an on-chain perpetual futures exchange, seeking to attract traders and liquidity through its own network. The project launched the DEX in April, entering a crowded derivatives market in which younger protocols face high security, compliance and funding costs. Its closure underscores the pressure on emerging blockchain networks when trading activity and locked capital fail to support continued development and operations.
Dango said it will shut down its blockchain and halt perpetual DEX trading on Aug. 13, roughly four months after the exchange went live. The project cited a funding shortfall, legal challenges and difficult market conditions. It also suffered a $410,000 hack after launch; although the funds were recovered, total value locked continued to decline. A broken funding pipeline and team departures ultimately prompted the decision to cease operations.
