Strong AI Demand Lifts Taiwan’s April Export Orders to Record for the Month

Export orders reflect overseas buyers’ future demand for Taiwanese products and serve as a key leading indicator for exports and manufacturing activity. Ministry of Economic Affairs data showed that the AI boom continued to fuel demand for servers, cloud computing and high-performance computing, boosting orders across Taiwan’s information and communications technology and electronics supply chains and making them the main driver of growth.

The ministry said export orders reached $91.12 billion in March, the highest monthly total on record. Orders rose more than 60% from a year earlier and recorded a 14th consecutive month of growth. The sharp increase was mainly driven by sustained business opportunities in AI and other emerging technologies, which lifted orders for information and communications technology and electronics products.

The ministry said export orders reached $63.88 billion in February, up 23.8% from a year earlier and the highest ever for the month. The result marked a 13th consecutive month of growth. Orders in January and February combined also set a record for the period, driven mainly by strong AI demand and the continued expansion of emerging technology applications.
