Chainalysis Launches AI Agent Tools to Combat Increasingly Sophisticated Crypto Crime

4 reports · First detected 2026-04-02 · Last active 2026-05-21

Generative AI is accelerating the industrialization of cryptocurrency crime. Chainalysis estimates that illicit crypto activity reached $154 billion in 2025, including about $17 billion in scam proceeds. Scams with on-chain links to AI providers took in an average of $3.2 million each, 4.5 times the $719,000 average for cases without such links. The figures underscore how manual investigations are struggling to keep pace with the scale of the activity.

Chainalysis unveiled its first “blockchain intelligence agents” at its annual Links conference on March 31, 2026. The agents can trace funds across blockchains, triage alerts and produce auditable reports, while personnel determine the scope of automation. Early testing reduced complex investigations from several days to minutes. The products are scheduled to enter investigative and compliance workflows first in summer 2026.

Chainalysis Partners With South Korean Police to Fight Crypto Crime2026-06-10 · 2 reports · similarity 0.80

Chainalysis is a security company that provides blockchain analytics and transaction-tracing tools. South Korea's active crypto asset market continues to face cryptocurrency theft by North Korean hackers, money laundering and retail investment fraud. The partnership is significant because it aims to turn case-by-case tracing into an institutionalized investigative capability, helping police identify onchain fund flows and criminal networks.

Chainalysis has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean National Police Agency. The two sides will work together to tackle North Korean cyberattacks and cryptocurrency scams targeting the public through blockchain analytics, investigative expertise and personnel training. As of July 20, 2026, they had not disclosed the exact signing date, the duration of the partnership, the amount of funding involved or quantitative enforcement targets.
