Bread Financial's First-Quarter Profit Rises as Loans Reach Turning Point
Bread Financial is a U.S. consumer finance company whose core businesses include co-branded and private-label credit cards, installment payment products and loans. The return to year-over-year growth in period-end loans marked a turning point after several quarters of contraction. Improving credit metrics are also critical to the company's asset quality and growth prospects as high oil prices and inflation weigh on consumer confidence.
Bread Financial reported first-quarter results on April 23, 2026. Net income rose 32% from a year earlier to $181 million, while diluted earnings per share were $4.15. Revenue increased 5% to $1.018 billion. Period-end loans rose 2% to $18.1 billion, and credit sales climbed 7% to $6.5 billion. Credit metrics improved for a sixth consecutive quarter. The company maintained its 2026 outlook for low-single-digit growth in average loans and revenue.
