Alphabet’s Anthropic and SpaceX Stakes Valued at More Than $250 Billion
Alphabet made early strategic investments in generative AI company Anthropic and space transportation provider SpaceX, acquiring stakes in both privately held companies. As competition in AI models intensifies and demand grows for satellite networks and commercial space services, the potential value of these assets has become an important factor in assessing Alphabet’s long-term growth and capital allocation.
Anthropic and SpaceX are expected to pursue initial public offerings as early as 2026, leading the market to estimate that Alphabet’s combined stakes could be worth as much as $257.6 billion. If the valuations and listing plans materialize, Alphabet could use the investment gains to expand AI computing infrastructure, including data centers, chips and power capacity, while further boosting its overall market value.

The history behind this eventGoogle Plans Up to $40 Billion Anthropic Investment, Starting With $10 Billion in Cash
Anthropic, the developer of the Claude family of models, is a major competitor to OpenAI in the generative AI market. Through funding and access to Google Cloud TPU computing capacity, Google parent Alphabet could strengthen its cloud AI business and gain greater insight into demand for AI models, while providing Anthropic with the infrastructure needed to train large models.
As of July 19, 2026, reports said Alphabet planned to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic, beginning with a $10 billion cash injection that would value the company at $350 billion. The remaining $30 billion would be released in stages subject to performance conditions, alongside about 5 GW of Google TPU computing capacity.
