Empery Digital Invests $20 Million in Cardinal Data Power
Empery Digital adopted a bitcoin treasury strategy in July 2025, seeking to build bitcoin exposure on a per-share basis. The Nasdaq-listed company has since begun redirecting capital toward AI data centers and power infrastructure, a shift that broadens its investment case beyond cryptocurrency holdings. The move matters as surging AI computing demand strains power availability, making large, energy-secured development sites increasingly valuable to hyperscalers and infrastructure investors.
On July 20, 2026, Empery Digital signed and closed a $20 million preferred-equity investment in Cardinal Data Power, taking an approximately 8% stake. The investment formed part of a roughly $70 million Series A round and will support Cardinal’s first West Texas campus, whose initial phase is planned at 750 megawatts across a site with access to more than 3,500 acres. The project targets first power in 2027, about 1 gigawatt of gross capacity by 2029 and potential expansion beyond 5 gigawatts.
