Apparent Zcash Blockchain Outage Traced to Block Explorer Display Issues

2 reports · First detected 2026-06-03 · Last active 2026-06-03

Zcash is a cryptocurrency network focused on private transactions, making block production critical to transaction confirmations and user confidence. Several block explorers showed its block height stalling on June 3, prompting concerns about a mainnet outage and renewed scrutiny of Zcash’s infrastructure reliability and governance.

Monitoring screens at one point indicated that Zcash had produced no new blocks for more than four hours, with the block height apparently stuck at 3,364,601. Reports also emerged of unconfirmed transactions and an emergency fork. Infrastructure providers later clarified that the issue stemmed from synchronization failures affecting multiple block explorers. The Zcash blockchain had continued producing blocks, and the network was not disrupted.
