Claude Code Chief Proposes Five Team Archetypes for the AI Era

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-29 · Last active 2026-06-29

Boris Cherny, who leads Anthropic’s AI coding tool Claude Code, says generative AI is blurring the boundaries between engineering, product and operations work. Traditional titles such as engineer or product manager no longer adequately capture employees’ actual contributions, he argues, and teams need to reorganize talent around working styles and responsibilities.

The latest report says Cherny proposed five archetypes: the Prototyper, who rapidly tests ideas; the Builder, who creates products; the Sweeper, who clears backlogs; the Grower, who drives growth; and the Maintainer, who keeps systems stable. The report did not specify when the proposal was made or mention any investment or transaction value. Its focus was a framework for organizational design in the AI era.
