US Funds Pax Silica Platform to Speed Allied AI Trade
Pax Silica, launched by the US State Department in December 2025, is Washington’s flagship effort to strengthen AI supply-chain security with allies and trusted partners. It spans critical minerals, energy, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, AI infrastructure and logistics. The initiative matters because bottlenecks or disruptions in any of those sectors can slow data-center construction and technology deployment, while common verification standards could reduce compliance friction across participating economies.
The State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs posted the Pax Silica Artificial Intelligence Assistance Project on July 17, 2026, offering as much as $50 million. Applications are due August 20, with the project expected to begin October 1. The first phase will pilot a credentialing and provenance platform with Panamanian ports and customs, using cryptographic cargo verification, AI-assisted risk assessment and expedited processing for vetted shipments of semiconductors, critical minerals and AI infrastructure products.
