Visa Says Agentic AI Adoption Starts With Stronger Data Controls

Companies are moving Agentic AI beyond workplace assistance toward systems that can independently access data, coordinate processes and take operational actions. Visa’s global head of growth and partnerships said that shift requires enterprises to establish explicit safeguards around organizational data and privacy. The controls are critical because AI agents may operate across multiple applications and assume responsibilities once handled directly by employees.

Visa said enterprises must pair those data protections with changes in governance, workplace culture and process design as agents take on more operational duties. Employees will need guidance on building workflows that span multiple AI agents, while companies define clear boundaries for data access and use. The report did not disclose a specific investment amount, deployment target or launch date for Visa’s agentic-enterprise initiatives.
