AI Agents Drive Enterprise SSD Demand as Top Five Brands Post Record First-Quarter Revenue

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-11 · Last active 2026-06-11

TrendForce said the spread of AI agent services requires cloud data centers to frequently access models, vector databases and inference results. Enterprise SSDs have consequently evolved from basic storage devices into critical components that support AI computing and reduce latency. Rapid demand growth has also put supply capacity and pricing in the industry spotlight.

From January through March 2026, strong purchasing by cloud service providers pushed combined revenue at the world's five largest enterprise SSD brands above $18.46 billion, an all-time high. Manufacturers were unable to adjust capacity as quickly as orders grew, creating a severe supply-demand imbalance. First-quarter contract prices rose sharply, and the supply crisis could continue into subsequent quarters.

The history behind this event
Enterprise SSD Revenue Jumps 51.7% as AI Inference Demand Surges2026-03-13 · 1 reports · similarity 0.81

Enterprise solid-state drives are critical data-center components, with their speed, capacity and reliability shaping the performance of artificial-intelligence workloads. As generative AI expands from model training into large-scale inference, cloud providers and enterprises require storage systems capable of handling heavier and more frequent data access. That shift is prompting suppliers to optimize enterprise SSD products for AI workloads and making storage a more important part of data-center investment.

Revenue at the world’s five largest enterprise SSD brands exceeded $9.9 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, rising 51.7% from the previous quarter. SK Group led the major suppliers with sequential growth of more than 75%. The quarterly surge was driven mainly by wider adoption of AI inference, higher customer requirements for storage infrastructure and supplier efforts to tailor products to AI workloads.
