Lisa Su Says Agentic AI Is Driving CPU Demand as AMD Server Orders Beat Forecasts

Agentic AI depends not only on GPUs but also on CPUs for data access, workload scheduling and coordination among multiple agents, making processors increasingly critical to server architecture. Advanced Micro Devices CEO Lisa Su said AI is the most important technological transformation in nearly 50 years and expects related deployments to continue expanding the market for data-center processors.

AMD said rapid growth in agentic AI applications had pushed server CPU orders far above its initial expectations. The company subsequently raised its server CPU outlook after the first quarter, and the news drove its shares up about 15% at one point. With supplies tight, AMD is coordinating capacity with foundry and supply-chain partners and expects demand to continue growing significantly over the next five years.
