Taiwan Financial-Sector Fines Plunge in First Quarter, With JKOPay and Welldone Among Those Penalized
Penalties imposed by Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission on the banking, securities and futures, and insurance industries are a key gauge of financial institutions’ regulatory compliance and internal controls. Fines across the three sectors totaled NT$11.39 million in the first quarter of 2026, down 76.81% from a year earlier, indicating a marked contraction in the overall scale of penalties.
Among banking-sector cases in the first quarter of 2026, the FSC fined JKOPay NT$600,000 after its responsible person breached restrictions on holding concurrent positions. Welldone, which provides small-value remittance services for migrant workers, was fined NT$260,000 for operational and management deficiencies. Both companies appeared on the quarter’s enforcement list.
