World Partners With Coinbase to Verify Humans Behind AI Agents
World, the digital identity project co-founded by Sam Altman, uses zero-knowledge proofs in its core World ID product to verify that a user is a real and unique human without revealing personal information. As AI agents begin making payments and conducting transactions on people’s behalf, identifying the humans who authorized them has become important for preventing fraud and bot abuse.
World has partnered with Coinbase on AgentKit, combining World ID’s cryptographic identity credentials and zero-knowledge proofs with stablecoin payments. The system allows AI agents conducting online transactions to prove they are backed by real people and operate as verifiable economic participants. The two companies have not disclosed the partnership date, investment amount or a formal launch timetable.
