Perplexity CEO Says AI Will Disrupt Jobs but Usher In New Era of Micro-Entrepreneurship
Generative AI is rapidly reshaping knowledge work and corporate hiring. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas believes some jobs will inevitably disappear in the short term, but low-cost AI tools will also allow individuals to conduct research, marketing and operations themselves. That could lower barriers to starting a business and spur “micro-entrepreneurship” led by individuals or small teams.
Srinivas recently said workers should proactively learn to use generative AI and turn their skills into personal businesses instead of passively worrying about unemployment. He said doing so could also improve their quality of life and sense of achievement. As of July 20, 2026, the reports provided did not specify the exact date of his remarks, projected job losses, the potential scale of such businesses or any related investment amounts.
