BNY, World’s Largest Custodian Bank, Expands Crypto Custody Services in Abu Dhabi
BNY, the world’s largest custodian bank, had $59.4 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration and $2.1 trillion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026. Its entry into Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) signals that traditional financial institutions are bringing regulated custody capabilities to the UAE’s digital asset market, while bolstering Abu Dhabi’s push to become a regional financial hub.
BNY said on May 7, 2026, that it was working with Finstreet Limited and ADI Foundation to establish a regulated, institutional-grade digital asset custody service in ADGM. The initial offering would serve Finstreet clients and support Bitcoin and Ether, with stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets and ADI Chain to be evaluated later. The plan remains subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approval, and no launch date was disclosed.
