Emirates NBD, DFDF Launch Fintech and AI Innovation Fund
Emirates NBD, one of the largest banking groups across the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye, set up its $100 million Innovation Fund in 2023 to back strategically relevant technology companies. Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF), an evergreen venture fund anchored by Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai Future Foundation, began with AED 1 billion in committed capital. Their tie-up matters because it combines a bank’s distribution and operating needs with government-backed venture capital, giving UAE fintech and AI developers a clearer route from pilot projects to commercial deployment.
In August 2026, Emirates NBD and DFDF announced a strategic partnership and a fintech and AI innovation fund aimed at identifying locally developed solutions for use across the bank. The initiative is intended to improve customer experience and operational efficiency while strengthening Dubai’s startup ecosystem. The partners did not disclose the new fund’s size, initial portfolio companies or a deployment timetable. That leaves the immediate milestone as the launch of the investment framework, with its impact to be measured by subsequent funding decisions and the number of technologies integrated into Emirates NBD’s products and processes.
