Startup Enables Blockchain Mining Tasks on a Quantum Computer for the First Time

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-02 · Last active 2026-04-02

Postquant Labs has built a blockchain testnet combining quantum computers, GPUs and CPUs, allowing researchers to compare different computing architectures on the same tasks. The project is significant because quantum computing could not only threaten existing cryptographic systems but also improve the speed, solution quality and energy efficiency of mining and optimization tasks.

Postquant Labs recently opened its platform to researchers, enabling them for the first time to perform blockchain mining tasks on a quantum computer while using GPUs and CPUs as controls. The platform has attracted a large number of registrations since its launch, but reports did not disclose the exact launch date, number of registrants, fundraising or investment amounts. The project remains experimental and will continue collecting performance and energy-consumption data across the three types of hardware.
