Grayscale Files for First US Worldcoin ETF
Worldcoin’s WLD is the native token of World Network, the biometric digital-identity project co-founded by OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman. The network uses iris-scanning Orb devices to verify that users are human. Approval of the Grayscale Worldcoin ETF would create the first U.S. exchange-traded fund directly holding WLD, offering brokerage-account access to the token and testing regulators’ willingness to admit an identity-linked crypto asset into mainstream markets.
Grayscale filed an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on July 20, 2026, seeking to list the passive fund on Nasdaq under the ticker GWLD. The vehicle would track WLD through the CoinDesk Worldcoin Benchmark Rate, with BitGo Bank & Trust as token custodian and BNY Mellon as administrator and transfer agent. WLD gained about 8% over 24 hours after the filing, reaching an intraday high of $0.387; CoinGecko data put its market value near $1.4 billion.
