Google Gemini Adds Task Automation for Ride-Hailing and Food Orders on Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10
Google is evolving Gemini from a chatbot that answers questions into agentic AI capable of operating Android apps. It performs multistep tasks in a virtual environment on the phone, while users can monitor, take over or stop the process in real time. Users must still give final confirmation for rides and food orders, underscoring Android’s shift toward an “intelligent system.”
Google announced the test on February 25, 2026. It will launch first on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series on March 12, before reaching the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL in mid-March. The initial rollout is limited to personal accounts held by users aged 18 or older. Galaxy S26 support will be available in the United States and South Korea, while Pixel 10 support will be limited to the United States. Gemini can operate apps including Uber, Lyft and DoorDash, and Google has not disclosed any additional fees.
