US Vice President Discloses Up to $500,000 in Bitcoin, on Par With Gold Holdings
JD Vance has long supported crypto assets. When running for the U.S. Senate in 2022, he disclosed Bitcoin holdings worth $100,000 to $250,000, and on May 28, 2025, he became the first sitting U.S. vice president to attend the Bitcoin conference. His personal investments align with the Trump administration’s push for pro-crypto policies, while also drawing scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest and policy transparency.
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics received Vance’s 2025 financial disclosure filing on June 29, 2026. The filing showed that his Coinbase account held $250,001 to $500,000 in Bitcoin and generated no income or less than $201. His investment in the SPDR Gold Trust ETF was reported in the same value range, though range-based disclosure does not prove that the two allocations were precisely equal.
