American Express Expands Virtual Cards in Concur Expense

2 reports · First detected 2026-08-13 · Last active 2026-08-13

Corporate travel and ad hoc purchases often require employee outlays, receipt collection and manual reconciliation. Virtual cards address those frictions with unique card numbers, security codes, expiry dates and preset controls tied to a company account. American Express is deepening its partnership with SAP Concur by embedding payment and expense controls inside Concur Expense, aiming to keep authorization, spending data and reconciliation within software finance teams already use.

American Express said on March 17, 2026, that eligible employees can create Amex Virtual Cards in Concur Expense for airfare, meals, subscriptions, catering and event purchases. Administrators can set spending limits and expiry dates, deactivate cards, and review physical- and virtual-card transactions centrally. The capability is initially available to select U.S.-based American Express Corporate and Business customers and is scheduled to reach all eligible U.S. customers in the third quarter of 2026. American Express disclosed no investment amount or pricing.
