Taiwan YC Founder Launches Formosa Founders Fund as Silicon Valley Gateway
Taiwanese founders have often struggled to gain early-stage capital, trusted networks and direct exposure to the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem. Formosa Founders Fund, established by 23-year-old Taiwanese YC entrepreneur weiday.tw, aims to provide a landing point for founders seeking to build global companies. The initiative targets a persistent gap between Taiwan’s technical talent and the investors, customers and startup culture concentrated in San Francisco.
Unveiled in August 2026, the fund plans to invest as much as $250,000 in selected Taiwanese founders with global ambitions. Participants must relocate to San Francisco and live at Founder House, where the program will combine funding with a high-density peer community. The model is designed to accelerate product and market validation, fundraising connections and cultural integration while giving Taiwanese entrepreneurs a more direct route into Silicon Valley.
