UK Watchdog Opens Probe Into Brink’s $6.6 Billion NCR Atleos Deal
Brink’s agreed on Feb. 26, 2026, to acquire ATM operator NCR Atleos in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at about $6.6 billion. The combination would bring together Brink’s cash-management network and NCR Atleos’ financial self-service infrastructure, expanding the buyer’s reach across ATM operations and services for banks and retailers. The scale and overlap make the deal significant for competition in cash access and related financial-services markets.
The UK Competition and Markets Authority formally opened its Phase 1 merger investigation on Aug. 26, 2026, examining whether the transaction could substantially lessen competition in any UK market. The regulator set Oct. 22 as its deadline for an initial decision. The consideration comprises $2.2 billion in cash and 13.3 million Brink’s shares, alongside the assumption of roughly $2.6 billion of NCR Atleos debt.
