AlphaGo Pioneer’s Ineffable Intelligence Raises $1.1 Billion in Seed Funding
Ineffable Intelligence was founded in London in late 2025 by David Silver, a core architect of AlphaGo and former head of reinforcement learning at Google DeepMind. The startup aims to develop AI that continually learns by interacting with its environment and through repeated trial and error, rather than relying primarily on human data to train LLMs. The approach is viewed as an alternative technological bet on the path to superintelligence.
Ineffable Intelligence said on April 27, 2026, that it had raised $1.1 billion in a seed round led by Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from NVIDIA and other investors. The round valued the company at $5.1 billion post-money and set a European record for seed funding. The company also formally emerged from stealth the same day.
