Swedish Court Delays Ruling in PriceRunner’s Google Antitrust Case

Klarna-owned price-comparison service PriceRunner accused Google of abusing its dominant position in the online comparison-shopping market to give its own shopping service an unfair advantage. The case extends Europe’s regulatory dispute over competition practices at major technology platforms. PriceRunner had sought up to $8.3 billion in damages.

The Swedish court initially postponed its ruling by two months to June 10, further delaying the outcome of the antitrust lawsuit. However, the latest related reports said the court subsequently ordered Google to pay Klarna $2 billion, about a quarter of the maximum $8.3 billion sought by PriceRunner.
