South Korea Launches NT$37 Trillion Chip Plan as Taiwan-Korea Tech ETF 00735 Goes Ex-Dividend
The South Korean government has launched three major semiconductor initiatives worth about NT$37 trillion, led by Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, to expand investment in AI chips, advanced manufacturing processes and related supply chains. The additional policy support shows that global technology competition now extends to production capacity, research and development, and national industrial strategy.
The Cathay Taiwan-Korea Technology ETF (00735), which focuses on leading Taiwanese and South Korean technology companies, also announced a distribution and is scheduled to go ex-dividend on July 16. Reports said the fund had delivered a 117% return, driven by long-term AI demand and gains in Taiwanese and South Korean semiconductor stocks. South Korea’s large-scale investment plans have also drawn greater market attention to the fund’s holdings.
