Visa Cuts 2,600 Tech Jobs to Fund Stablecoin, B2B Growth
Visa, one of the world’s largest payments networks, is reshaping its investment priorities as stablecoins, faster cross-border transfers and business payments create new growth opportunities. The restructuring underscores how established financial firms are reallocating talent and capital toward emerging payment infrastructure while using artificial intelligence to streamline product development and automate repetitive work.
Visa said it will eliminate about 2,600 positions across its technology and product teams, equivalent to roughly 7% of its global workforce. The company plans to redirect resources toward higher-potential areas including stablecoins, cross-border payments and B2B services. It also said the adoption of AI has accelerated product development and reduced the amount of labor required for recurring tasks.
