Billtrust CEO Targets B2B’s Trillion-Dollar Cash Jam
Business-to-business payments remain burdened by manual invoicing, disconnected systems and a patchwork of payment channels, creating friction as transaction volumes grow. Billtrust Chief Executive Grant Halloran says that fragmentation raises back-office costs and delays access to working capital, making payment modernization a strategic priority rather than a routine technology upgrade for companies seeking to protect cash flow and fund investment.
Halloran said recently that nearly 60% of B2B invoices are overdue, leaving an estimated $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion stalled across the business economy. He argued that integrated digital invoicing and payment tools could shorten collection cycles, improve visibility into receivables and release capital trapped in outdated processes. The figures underscore the scale of the cash-flow problem facing suppliers and corporate finance teams.
