Science Tokyo, Companies Plan AI- and Robot-Powered Smart Building
Science Tokyo is partnering with companies including NTT Urban Development to build a 39-story mixed-use tower. The university aims to generate revenue from its assets while deploying physical AI, humanoid robots and digital twins. Combining higher education, technology trials and urban renewal, the project offers a new model for universities seeking to unlock the value of their property holdings.
The latest plan calls for about 70 companies to participate, with AI and robots deployed in the building and surrounding community for management and services. Digital twins will simulate how the spaces operate. No total investment amount, formal construction start date or completion date has been disclosed. Attention will now turn to the development timetable, the division of responsibilities among participating companies and the project’s commercial potential.
