Klarna Boosts Membership Rewards, Scraps Service Fees
Klarna is expanding beyond its buy-now, pay-later roots into digital banking, using subscriptions to generate recurring revenue and deepen use of its balance and debit-card products. The company introduced its global Premium and Max tiers on Oct. 27, 2025, priced at 17.99 euros and 44.99 euros a month, respectively. The plans bundled cash back, travel protection, airport-lounge access and digital subscriptions, positioning Klarna against premium card issuers without requiring revolving credit.
On Aug. 13, 2026, Klarna said it was raising membership cash-back rates to as much as 2% and eliminating service fees for membership customers. It also increased the stated annual value of its richest package to as much as 6,000 euros, from more than 5,000 euros previously. The upgraded benefits span travel, lifestyle services and digital subscriptions, though their availability and realized value vary by market and customer usage.
