Google Turns Sheets Data Into Interactive Dashboards With Canvas

Google Sheets has long been used to store and analyze tabular data, but turning those records into a polished, actionable dashboard typically requires formulas, chart configuration or third-party software. Sheets canvas, powered by Gemini, moves the product closer to a no-code application builder by placing an interactive layer over spreadsheet data. The shift matters because it lets individuals and teams create and share operational tools without specialist visualization or programming skills.

Google unveiled Sheets canvas at Cloud Next ’26 on April 22, 2026, and has since expanded testing. Users can enter a natural-language prompt to turn data from one sheet tab into dashboards, heat maps, Kanban boards, customized learning trackers or seating charts, then add, edit or delete records in the generated interface, with changes synced to the underlying sheet. The desktop-only feature currently works in English and is available through Gemini Beta for work and school accounts, as well as eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra personal accounts.
