Ripple CEO Urges US Senate to Advance Crypto Market Structure Bill Quickly
The US Congress is considering a crypto market structure bill aimed at clarifying the respective regulatory roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Ripple has long clashed with US regulators, and CEO Brad Garlinghouse believes clear rules would help companies comply and support market development, making them preferable to the current regulatory uncertainty.
Speaking at Consensus 2026, Garlinghouse said the bill was not a done deal despite an emerging compromise over stablecoins, and that the Senate still needed to schedule a hearing within the next two weeks. He warned that failure to make progress during this critical window would significantly reduce the likelihood of the bill ultimately passing. The matter did not involve a specific transaction amount.
