Metaplanet Launches ADR Program to Boost U.S. Liquidity
Metaplanet, a Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed bitcoin treasury company, launched its sponsored Level I American depositary receipt, MPJPY, on December 19, 2025, with Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas serving as the depositary bank. Each ADR represents one common share and settles through the U.S. Depository Trust Company, allowing U.S. investors to gain exposure without buying Japanese shares across borders and giving the company another channel to attract U.S. capital.
Metaplanet announced on April 13, 2026, that it would fully waive ADR issuance fees of up to $0.05 per unit for 60 days through June 12. The waiver applies to both conversions from MTPLF and new purchases. MPJPY is available for trading on Robinhood, Fidelity and Charles Schwab, but the $0.01 annual fee per unit for 2026 and 2027 and any brokerage charges are not covered by the waiver.
