Apple Reportedly Taps Klarna for Device Leasing Plan

3 reports · First detected 2026-07-22 · Last active 2026-07-22

Apple is reportedly preparing an “Apple Upgrade” program covering iPhones, Macs and iPads, with fintech firm Klarna providing financing and soft credit checks. Structured more like an auto lease than a conventional installment purchase, the plan would give customers several paths at the end of a payment period while helping Apple broaden recurring-payment options for its hardware lineup.

Under the reported model, customers could make monthly payments and later choose to upgrade early, purchase the device or return it. Apple and Klarna have not formally announced the partnership. As of July 22, 2026, reports had not specified a launch date, participating markets, monthly charges, interest rates, lease terms or device-level pricing.
