World Open-Sources Zero-Knowledge Identity Toolkit ProveKit

World is developing World ID as a decentralized way for people to verify identity-related claims without disclosing all of their personal information. ProveKit uses zero-knowledge proofs to confirm required attributes while limiting exposure of the underlying data. The approach is significant for digital identity systems seeking to balance fraud prevention, user privacy and verifiable trust without relying on conventional databases of sensitive credentials.

World has open-sourced ProveKit, making the zero-knowledge identity proving toolkit available for developers to inspect and use. The technology has been deployed in World ID since April, giving it a track record in a live identity-verification system before the public release. World said the move is intended to improve technical transparency and provide developers with more secure components for building privacy-preserving verification services.
