Bitget Protection Fund Tops $500 Million in April, Setting Record as Bitcoin Rebounds
The Bitget Protection Fund is a security reserve maintained by crypto exchange Bitget to guard against extreme market conditions and risks to assets on its platform. It currently holds an allocation of 5,500 BTC and, together with the exchange’s proof of reserves, forms part of its asset-protection framework. Because the fund is denominated in Bitcoin, its dollar value fluctuates with the cryptocurrency’s price, making it an important gauge of the platform’s capacity to absorb risk.
Bitget released its April protection fund report in May 2026. Driven by Bitcoin’s rebound, the fund’s dollar value returned to the $500 million level and exceeded that threshold for the first time. It rose to a record $511.1 million on April 26, while its average value for the month was $479 million. The reserve remained unchanged at 5,500 BTC.
